Glow Eindhoven tour

Edwin and I went for a little 90 minute bike ride in 2ºC degrees last night. Saw these amazing things implanted within the city limits. Things ... that glow, flash, light up.

This Russian artist suspended infra-red lamps over hammocks for two, to lure people out of their homes in a country where winter days promise the isolation of 18 hours of darkness. People met with each other, told stories.

These are illuminated children's drawings of their families, rendering the bank and the canal itself a firey blaze.

This tropicana hothouse was a pearlescent bubble on the otherwise pitch horizon.




Highlight? (haha) Meeting Anouk and Thuys via these groovy phone boxes. You go inside, pick up a phone, dial **1 and your phone booth starts flashing. The person, whoever it might be, is in the other phonebooth and you can have a conversation. I answered the phone, (Hallo, met Jane), had a little chat in Dutch (yay!). Afterwards the couple came over to meet us for a little "in person" chat.
